Get your kids involved this summer!

After what’s been an incredibly difficult year for many of us, with the help of Lloyds Bank, we have a range of summer activities perfect for keeping your kids active this summer that will have a great positive impact on their mental wellbeing.

Something for everyone

As we emerge from a period of great uncertainty where many of us, including children, have experienced a mental health problem or seen a loved one struggle, we wanted to put together a series of fun and exciting activities that will appeal to both children and parents alike helping to have a positive impact on mental wellbeing and create memories.

We’re offering 3 different types of session – Physical to help develop connectedness, Creative to engage your children’s senses and Social to help build self-awareness.

Active Souls (ages 8 – 12)

We are delighted to once again collaborate with Active Souls through two sessions for children aged between 8 and 12, that tie the physical and mental benefits of play and exercise together through fun and play-centered activities that will get your kids moving!

Mikey from Active Souls firmly believes that exercise can be driven by enjoyment and community and that play can become the gateway to a more balanced and sustainable lifestyle – simply put, childlike play with one objective, FUN!

Tuesday 3rd August, The Buchan School, 2pm – 3.30pm

Tuesday 10th August, Ramsey Grammar School, 2pm – 3.30pm

Get creative workshops (ages 6 – 12)

Our Art Psychotherapists, Emily and Fern, have put together a range of wonderfully creative activities for children aged between 6 and 12, that will allow your children to express themselves through simple paper folding techniques and creating their own miniature art journals to fill with their thoughts and feelings, ideas, memories or stories. The workshops aim to help the children practice gratitude, reflect upon positive experiences, express themselves in any way they like and creating their own pocket book of joy!

Thursday 12th August, Jurby Community Centre, 2pm – 3.30pm

Go to the movies

We’ve arranged for a special showing at the Broadway Cinema (VillaGaiety)  in Douglas, of the 2015 animated comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios, Inside Out.

The film is set in the mind of a young girl named Riley, where five personified emotions — Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust — try to lead her through life as she and her parents adjust to their new surroundings after moving from Minnesota to San Francisco. Rated U, this film is a great way to help children to learn about emotions in a visual way and is very relatable to every day life.

Screening time – 10am (2 hour film), Saturday 21st August

Ticket Price – £5 per person (adult and child)
