Our workshops give individuals skills they can use to benefit their own mental health and wellbeing, as well as supporting their colleagues, families and communities.
Our training forms part of our mission towards lifelong mental health education for all. By using our paid training services, you are enabling us to continue supporting young people’s mental health, free of charge. Learn more about our mental health education programme here.
Why train with us?
Isle Listen have delivered mental health training in the community for nearly ten years. Our versatile formats suit a range of learning needs, with the service offering core CPD accredited courses, a series of shorter in person or virtual workshops, informal discussions, and an online learning platform. All of our training uses psychological evidence-based theory and is regularly updated in-line with new research, with content overseen by Isle Listen’s experienced and accredited therapeutic team. Workshops are created and delivered by fully trained professionals with experience in mental health, coaching and training.

Our Courses
Most workshops can be delivered in person or via a virtual classroom, and some can be delivered via webinar. To book a bespoke training course, we require a minimum of 6 participants, and can deliver this either from our training suite in Castletown, or come to your organisation.
Our open courses are delivered from Mill Court, Hope Street, Castletown.
In addition to the below, Isle Listen can also support your organisation with workshops around informal mediation or building buddy, coaching and mentoring programmes and can help you develop a sustainable training plan around wellbeing.

CPD Accredited
Written for the specific needs of the Isle of Man, this course provides an introduction to mental health as well as topics including depression, anxiety, suicide, referral pathways and listening skills. It also clarifies your role boundaries and builds support options so you are never dealing with a situation beyond your training.

Supporting Vulnerable People in the Community
CPD Accredited
Provides those working in the community with the skills and toolkit needed to spot a customer who might be vulnerable and to access signposting options to support them.

CPD Accredited
Provides those in the financial sector with the knowledge, skills, and toolkit needed to spot a customer who might be vulnerable and access signposting options to support them.

Advanced Mental Health and Wellbeing First Aid

The next step for Mental Health First Aiders, to upskill their core understanding, revisit key skills, test out the effectiveness of their role and share real life experiences with other trained First Aiders to gather new tools to take back to the workplace and support colleagues.

Mental Health Awareness for Line Managers
CPD Accredited
Specifically created for Line Managers. Gain an understanding of common mental health issues, how to spot signs that someone might be struggling, and use resources to appropriately support someone in your team.

Provides managers with practical tools and strategies they can use to manage responsibilities and pressures they may find themselves under when supporting others. For those who have previously attended the Line Manager training, or a Mental Health First Aid course.

CPD Accreditation
We have been awarded CPD accreditation for all of our open courses. CPD (Continuing Professional Development) represents learning activities where professionals can engage to develop and enhance their knowledge and skills. These course can be used to track your career advancement and sustain professional qualifications. We provide a certificate upon successfully completing these courses so you can formally record your CPD.

Meet your trainers
Gareth and Becks have over 12 years’ experience in facilitating mental health training workshops.
They work tirelessly to continually update and evolve our training courses based on environmental factors and evidence-based practice. All of our courses are rooted in psychological evidence-based theory and are specifically designed for the Isle of Man. Gareth and Becks work closely with our accredited therapeutic team to review the courses, continually drawing upon their expertise.

Our Mill Court Training Suite
All of our open courses take place at our Mill Court training centre in Castletown. Our Supporting Vulnerable People in the Community Course takes place in a large suite at the Scholl Wellbeing Centre in Strang. Refreshments are provided, with a light lunch included on full day courses.
