My journey into my current role began in a Residential School, followed by a role as a Pastoral Worker in a local high school. It was through these experiences that I became increasingly aware of the need for preventative and early intervention mental health support for young people.
One of the most rewarding parts of my role is witnessing the resilience and insight that young people bring to their sessions. I feel genuinely privileged to support them in navigating their mental health journeys.
A client said about Libby: “Thank you for seeing **** yesterday and for the past 8 sessions you’ve had with her. The sessions have really made a difference to **** and her confidence with going in to school and facing her worries. This has helped ***** and I immensely too in order to feel that we’re able to understand and help her to face her struggles… I really did not know how we could help **** and I am amazed that she got to the stage that we can help her and she has the tools to be able to help herself. We are so very grateful!.”

I’ve always been a helper and carer by nature and believe that more people suffer in silence than we realise.
Challenges and mental battles often occur unseen and unrecognised by others. I love being able to support people through something that has such a profound impact on such a deep level. I am passionate about challenging the stigma around mental health and I feel grateful for the opportunity to provide a much-needed service that I wish was around when I was younger.
I am working towards becoming a psychologist so I can contribute more to this field.
A client said about David: “Having someone with common interests so that I could take a moment and not feel pressured/feel like I could speak easily to someone who sort of knew me, or bits about me.”
A client said about David: “David was really fun and I feel that I can talk to him freely. David is very fun.”

Growing up isn’t easy and there are many challenges in life that can be difficult to talk about. I can provide a non-judgemental, safe space for you to talk through some of those difficult feelings.
I have worked with children and young people since 2012 and have a growing interest in supporting young people with their mental health. As well as supporting young people and the wider community, I am developing my own counselling skills.
A client said about Sammy: “My son was always so happy going in for his sessions. From the moment we walked through the door he was treated with such kindness. The hot chocolate on his first visit instantly put a smile on his face and this set the tone for all of his visits. Sammy was absolutely amazing, thinking about his individual needs and helping us to make a referral to ***. The follow up activities were so helpful and he is using some of what he has learned at home. I can’t thank Sammy and Isle Listen (Talk) enough. You are all heroes!”

Mental health is a topic close to my heart, and something I am very passionate about. I am so privileged to be a part of Isle Listen, and to support young people who may be finding things difficult, for any number of reasons. I am here to listen without judgement and to work alongside you as we tackle those difficulties.
I received mental health support myself at secondary school, and love that I can now give back, leaning on my own journey to help me relate to and understand the experiences of the young people I meet.
I am continually learning and developing my skillset, working towards being a fully qualified therapeutic counsellor.
A client said about Ruth: “I was listened to and cared for. I felt comfortable sharing my problems with my wellbeing practitioner.”
A client said about Ruth: “Ruth was very kind and helpful. I have loved it and found it very helpful.”

I love being a Wellbeing Practitioner because I remember how it felt developing through adolescence. The physical and psychological changes that impact young people are very real. Being able to give them a space to talk and feel listened to is a privilege at such a development point of their journey. I hold a qualification at Level 3 counselling, Level 3 health and social care and I am also a 200hr limitless yoga instructor.
As an island girl I really believe in the power of community, and with the Talk service we offer in schools I think we can make a real impact and allow the young people on the island to thrive.
A client said about Jess: “I always felt heard and never felt like anything I was saying was stupid”
A parent said about Jess: “Jess has been great, very understanding and easy for my child to talk to and has taught great coping techniques”
