Isle Listen has announced the return of its popular Tough Mucka event, taking place on Sunday 27th September 2026, with new headline partner Conister Bank supporting this year’s challenge.
Now in its fourth year, Tough Mucka has become a well-known fixture in the Island’s calendar, bringing together individuals and teams to take on the physically and mentally demanding obstacle course.
Designed to push participants beyond their comfort zones, the event reflects the importance of resilience, teamwork and determination — values that sit at the heart of Isle Listen’s work.
With the support of Conister Bank, this year’s event will introduce a refreshed course, with new 10km and 5km adult routes replacing the previous longer distances, alongside a 2km course designed specifically for younger participants.
Changes have also been made to the event layout to create a more engaging and inclusive atmosphere for spectators, with activity taking place throughout the day to ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy.
New elements will be introduced across the course, as well as opportunities to sponsor individual obstacles, to encourage wider community involvement.
Organisers have also been working closely with the farming community to strengthen relationships and enhance the experience for all involved, while raising awareness of the event across the Island.
Tough Mucka plays an important role in supporting the charitable work of Isle Listen, which focuses on a preventative Mental Health Education Programme for young people on the Isle of Man. This programme reaches over 10,000 children and young people annually, engaging with all the Island’s schools & UCM.
Speaking of the event, Steven Downward, Fundraising Lead at Isle Listen said, “We are delighted to launch Tough Mucka #4, with early-bird entries timed to complement our ‘Take Action’ Campaign for Mental Health Awareness this May. With the incredible support of Conister Bank sponsoring the event this year, we are able to build on the foundations of a brilliant existing event. Special thanks to the farmers and landowners for their continued support.”
Steven continued “We know the local community get excited for this event year on year, and we hope to continually improve. Working on feedback from 2025 we have revamped the course, with shorter routes, and more condensed action, hoping to be a great day for spectators and entrants alike. We hope to see you on 27th September!”
With the backing of Conister Bank, this year’s event continues to build on its strong community focus, encouraging people across the Island to come together, take part and support a cause that makes a meaningful difference to young people locally.
Kerry Waddington, Head of Marketing & Communications at Conister Bank added
“Tough Mucka is one of those brilliant events that really shows our Island at its best with people of all ages and fitness abilities getting involved, encouraging one another and sharing plenty of laughs along the way. We’re proud that Conister Bank is headline partner this year and we’re really looking forward to working with Isle Listen to help make the experience even more inclusive and memorable for everyone, from participants to spectators. We also can’t wait to see people getting stuck in or cheering from the sidelines.”
