Changes to our Referral Form - IsleListen

We are open Monday to Friday between 9.00am – 5.00pm. Isle Listen is not a crisis service and only offers planned interventions. Should you or someone you know be in need of immediate support outside of our office hours you should contact Manx Care’s 24 hour Crisis Response and Home Treatment Team on 01624 642860 or the Emergency Services on 999.

Changes to our Referral Form

April 29, 2025

Earlier this year we announced the commissioning of a new single point of access service called Talk. This is part of a contract between Isle Listen and Manx Care, working with CAMHS. Talk will act as a single point of access for all young people looking for mental health support.

Further to this, and to prepare for the launch of the new Talk service later this spring, the Isle Listen referral form is changing on 1 May.

Before the new service launches, this updated referral form allows us to centralise our referrals, with those from schools and the community now going through the same process.

It can still be found in the same place: https://www.islelisten.im/referral.

You will notice that we ask for more information on the new form than we have previously. This is to ensure that we are gathering everything that is needed to facilitate and triage referrals, as the more relevant information we receive, the more efficient the service will be, ensuring young people aren’t waiting too long for the right support.

You will also notice a question around text communication. We are pleased to be launching a text reminder service for appointments that will improve communication and ensure best use of the service.

Another change you will notice is our process for gaining consent. Any person aged 16 or over can consent to their own referral and/or treatment provided they have the mental capacity to make that decision. Parental consent in these cases will not be required. Parental consent should be sought for those under the age of 16, however if a young person who is under 16 wishes for their parent/carer not to be contacted about their referral there will be an option on the form for them to request an assessment of Gillick-competence by Isle Listen. These assessments will be undertaken by our Safeguarding Lead who is a registered social worker. It is worth noting that it is a legal requirement for us to have confirmed either parental consent or Gillick-competence for under 16s. Therefore we will not be able to make any arrangements with schools that do not align with this process.

While we are preparing for the launch of the Talk service, we would appreciate any feedback you have on the new form. Please share feedback with info@islelisten.im. Please do not include information about individual referrals in these emails.

More information including details of the new webpage will be published ahead of the launch of Talk.
